Izabella's and Charles' wedding took place at a house in Los Altos Hills in the Bay Area
at San Francisco
I met Debbie while I was shooting a short film for the Meisner Technique Studio film festival.
She was the lead actress and I was the cinematographer. And as the cinematographer I had to spend quite a few hours with her testing the light and color and of course shooting the whole project.
We became friends almost immediately since we share a common love for film, hard work, smart jokes and wine.
A few months and lots of projects later, she calls me one day and says that she wants me to be the photographer for her mom's wedding. Of course the answer was yes.
Izabella's and Charles' wedding took place at a house in Los Altos Hills in the Bay Area, on a warm spring afternoon during the golden hour. As someone who loves shooting outside while the sun is sending its last golden rays on loose hair and naked shoulders, this wedding felt like a scene out of a movie.
During the whole wedding I felt that I was surrounded by a great, heartwarming energy that was blending with laughter, music and the three different languages that were spoken by the family.
Debbie came to San Francisco from Kenya when she was 10 and therefore talks like a true Bay Area kid using words like "hella". But when she was speaking with her mom, Izabella, she would either speak her native language Swahili or in English but with a Kenyan accent. On the other hand the other side of the family spoke in English or in French since they were all from Switzerland.
After the wedding ceremony that took place at the garden of the house we all sat around the dinner table that was decorated with beautiful blue flowers and had some really good food and wine.
The night ended with music, lots of dance and tequila shots.
